Serving and Protecting

Uniform Patrol Section

The uniform patrol division is the backbone of basic law enforcement in the Grambling community. Each shift is managed by a patrol supervisor to ensure calls for service are handled in a safe and efficient manner. The Patrol Operations division primary duties include:

  • Answering all calls for service
  • Conduct business
  • Residential security checks
  • Enforcement of local ordinances and state laws
  • Provide prevention and deterrence of crimes against persons and property
  • Investigation of motor-vehicle crashes
  • Provide escorts for funerals or special events

Traffic Enforcement

Traffic officers, a sub-division of the patrol operations division, primarily enforce traffic laws. These officers conduct both stationary and moving radar in high traffic areas of the city. They periodically patrol neighborhoods and school zones while strictly enforcing slower speed zones.

Bike Unit

During special events, several officers in conjunction with Grambling State University officers ride special equipped and designed mountain bikes for patrol duties. This method of transportation provides on-hand enforcement during events such as Tigerfest, sporting events, parades, and festivals.

Criminal Investigation

All crimes are classified and documented according to the United States Department of Justice guidelines. Any crimes needing further investigation are referred to the investigation supervisor. Investigations are conducted in all areas such as fraud, identity theft, burglary, robbery, theft, murder, property damage, domestic violence, sexual assault, firearm violations, and any other crimes.

Triad

Officers from the Grambling Police Department attend Triad training and meetings with the Lincoln Parish Triad unit. These officers attempt to maintain knowledge of the elderly citizens within the city limits should the need for Triad assistance arise.

The dispatcher is in constant contact with the patrol supervisor and patrol officers. The unit is supervised by the communications supervisor. Dispatchers maintain the highly sensitive state-wide LLETS system, which includes the National Crime Information Center data system. The dispatcher duties include:
